CPD – Shame and the Supervisory Space

Robin Shohet and Paul Johnson
10 October 2025
10:00 – 16:30
Venue CCPE

In surveying the literature on therapy, coaching and supervision, shame is not given much attention. Yet our experience is that it has a huge impact on us personally, professionally and in the organisations we might find ourselves working in.

This workshop delves into the nuances of shame in supervision, exploring its manifestations, and offers strategies for addressing it. For supervisees, this may stem from feelings of incompetence, fear of judgement or imposter syndrome. Conversely, supervisors may experience shame due to perceived failures in guiding their supervisees effectively and doubts about their own competency. In addition we will consider shame within an organisation and what happens to the workforce when the organisation is labelled as not being good enough.

Cost: £225 or £395 for both workhops if booked with CPD Course Working with the Shadow with Robin Shohet and Sheila Campbell-Lloyd 9 October 2025

CPD – Working with the Shadow

Robin Shohet and Sheila Campbell-Lloyd
9 October 2025

10:00 – 16:30
Venue: CCPE London

In Jungian psychology, the Shadow represents the hidden parts of ourselves—traits, desires, and fears we’ve repressed because they don’t align with our conscious self-image. But what we push away doesn’t disappear; it operates unconsciously, shaping our reactions, relationships, and decisions. By exploring the Shadow with curiosity rather than judgment, we open the door to greater self-awareness, authenticity, and wholeness. As Jung put it, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

In this highly interactive and experiential workshop Robin and Sheila will encourage you to look at how your Shadow might manifest in your life and work, as well as exploring the shadow side of the different helping professions.
